This is our debut album...
Out of a sort of rebelliousness, I wanted to make a complete album from start to finish all by myself, said Markus Arndt, the musician from Darmstadt in Germany.
It quickly became apparent however, that I would need some help with regards to the vocals and the lyrics since my own attempts in this area were unsatisfactory.
And that's how I came about to ask an old musical colleague from the past, the Englishman Patrick O.J. Moore, for some help. I played drums and Pat played guitar and sang in the psychedelic rock band " Loxley Beade".
In this new project, hasenfuss, I write the basic framework of the songs on my computer and send the finished tracks to Pat, who then writes the lyrics and finds a melody to sing...each person works alone from home...what else is there to do in days like these?

When the basic songs were finished I wasn't quite satisfied with the final result and we decided to send some of the tracks to further aquaintances who then also made some contributions, thus Henrik and Esra from Gießen, Germany also got involved with backing vocals, additional keyboard and guitar parts. I think Esra and Henrik had a few pleasant evenings working together.

The additional tracks fit in perfectly and have helped humanize the otherwise very electronic sounding songs. Later we also met up with another female singer in Darmstadt called Tanja who added some more background vocals to a few songs.

By lucky chance, just as the mixing process was getting a bit sticky and unsatisfactory, the talented "Buergermeister Koeroglu" got involved and supported us with his mixing and mastering skills. I must admit I learned a hell of a lot sitting in on the mixing sessions in the Darmstadt Orange Box Studios, said Markus.

The rebellious attitude has since given way to the comforting acceptance that it is nicer and more exciting and satisfying to write songs and make music with other musicians when working outside of a “normal band structure”.

I've learned to accept the things that are meant to be...
